As the inventor of a groundbreaking new musical invention, it became important to rebrand the company to better reflect our current work and focus. While we still plan to offer lead generation, reputation management, and technology evaluation & procurement services, our primary mission has shifted to align better with our values.
Geoffrey Daniel Phelan began an unusual when he was just 4 years old. In order to get him to stop crying, one evening, his siblings started rocking in their family van, while singing a tune on the radio. It was the only thing that worked. Soon Geoffrey started to imitate this behavior and soon he was "rocking" every time there was music playing in the car. As he grew, it shifted to being his favorite thing to do all the time.
He always loved dancing to music on Friday nights with his two oldest sisters who would babysit him and his baby sister. One night, he was so highly energized from dancing and singing to the radio that he jumped on their living room couch and started bouncing and singing like he did in the car. Before they knew it, Geoffrey started asking to play music on the radio so he could bounce and sing on the couch some more, every single day.
Right before starting 3rd grade, his older handicap brother, Nate, who was born with dwarfism, warned him about the need to control his "rocking" while in school. So from the time he was 8yo he began hiding his love for bouncing to music using cushiony surfaces - that propels you forward in sync to the music while you rock. It gave him a thrilling feeling. When he hit adolescence, he realized that his habit of "bounce sing" had given him rock-hard abs inadvertently. In High School he discovered he was naturally gifted for long distance running and he began setting school records and surprised his team when he qualified for the New York State Championships for X-Country.
This earned him a college scholarship for running and he joined the Stony Brook University Seawolves in Long Island, NY as a 17-year-old freshman in the Fall of 2005. After one semester, he decided he preferred to live closer to home. So he arranged a transfer to the University at Albany for the Spring of 2006. As a result of the two schools residing in the same NCAA Conference, he was forced to redshirt Track & Field in his first semester at UAlbany.
In the Fall of 2006 he joined the UAlbany Men's X-Country Team as a walk-on. On September 9th, 2006, upon completing the Fordham Invitational's Men's 8K, held at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx, NY, he blacked out completely and woke up finding himself surrounded by 8 medical professionals in a hospital bed. He was battling an exertion Level III Heat Stroke with a core body temperature of 106 degrees.
One week prior to his heatstroke episode another young man just a year or two younger than him at the time, passed away for the same reason. He believes that Bounce Sing helped prepare his body to deal with such a physical trauma - and is one of the reasons he survived - along with great medical attention that day from the New York Presbyterian Hospital. All the while, his parents were unaware of the situation because of NCAA rules that prevented them from reaching out, as he was over 18yo - having just turned 19 one day prior.
As a result of the frightening ordeal, Geoffrey took a break from competing for a while and never rejoined the Track team after that. He continued in Business School with dual concentrations in Marketing & Management. To earn some extra money, he got a job selling event tickets at a local theatre in Albany, NY, that was well-known for great musical acts and live comedy shows like Larry The Cable Guy, Lisa Lampanelli, Dave Chappelle, Michael Buble', Modest Mouse, Tori Amos, The Backstreet Boys, etc. After a couple years at the theatre, he applied to the largest venue in the region - which was his local arena. He started working for the Times Union Center Arena in the Box Office between classes and enjoyed being in the heart of the Capitol City of New York where all of the big shows came through. Eventually he worked his way up to an internship with the Marketing Dept for the Arena.
One evening in November 2009, Geoffrey met and befriended the individual credited with helping to launch Jimmy Fallon's career in television. It was a man named Donald S. Metzner who was the owner of a local car dealership in Albany, NY and the executive producer of a local sketch comedy TV show that Jimmy starred in, called Metroland's Loose Camera. It aired on the local Fox Affiliate Station in the Upstate New York Region in the late 90s.
After keeping "Bounce Sing" a secret -from everyone outside his immediate family- for nearly 20 years, he opened to Donald about it. Out of curiosity, Donald asked him if he'd be willing to play a few songs on guitar. Geoffrey claimed that his "bounce-sing" habit gave him some extraordinary musical abilities from singing to rhythm to songwriting by ear. So he played a few of his original songs in front of Donald and a small group of friends - and then received an incredible offer that profoundly impacted his life. Donald believed he had a lot of natural talent and offered to build a private recording studio inside his guesthouse at his 150 acre estate in Upstate NY. In exchange for helping take care of the exotic animals on the property, Geoffrey could begin recording his music and develop his abilities to become a professional artist.
After the studio was built, Geoff crafted his first original prototype of a "Bounce Sing Chair". It was a chair made for rocking back and forth while singing and songwriting. It did not work as well as he hoped, but it did plant the seed, which sparked the idea for inventing the most advanced musical chair in the world - the "Bounce Sing Chair".
After recording music for 1.5yrs, he grew frustrated. Without the guidance of an Artist Manager or Music Professional, he didn't understand the huge importance of mixing and mastering tracks. He learned on his own as best he could by Trial & Error, but was never satisfied with the quality of his song recording. Once his student loan repayments began he had perceivable way to afford hiring the additional help he needed to master and release his records - and simultaneously grow a fanbase on his own. He did know that he wanted to start a family of his own and fall in love with a girl one day - and so in 2011 he took a job offer to move 3hrs away and work for Comcast Business selling Internet, Phone, and Cable services to businesses over the phone.
Comcast had purchased NBCUniversal earlier that year, and to him it made sense to go work for the same company that now employed Jimmy Fallon at NBC... His hope was that one day he would get an opportunity to go work for NBC on that side of the company, but it didn't happen. Instead, he was an outstanding sales professional and was valued by Comcast Business. He met his wife in the Fall of 2011 and got married in August 2014. Then together they moved to South Carolina in December 2014, where Geoff continued serving local businesses as a local business technology consultant for Comcast in Charleston.
In December 2019, Geoff handed in his resignation at Comcast Business to pursue his dream of owning and running his own business. He had launched his own marketing agency in 2018 after investing his time and money to acquire valuable digital marketing skills to add more value to the business customers he served, while he was a local rep at Comcast.
However, his college roommate was interested in starting an IT company with him - like they had always talked about. So instead of working full-time to grow his own company, Southernize Marketing, he committed his time and energy to launch and grow a company called Morse Code IT - a neutral business telecommunications & IT agency. Three months into it - the pandemic shutdowns started. Ultimately, he had trouble finding the business and sales to stay afloat financially. As a result, he was forced to resort to taking early withdrawals out of his 70K retirement and lifesavings account, that he had worked so hard to build for 10 years.
Geoffrey used up his entire lifesavings to get through financial hardship caused by the pandemic. By July 2021, he realized it was time to focus on his own brand - as he was never paid more than once in 1.7 years. His wife got pregnant with their 2nd child in February 2020 and the cost of the hospital visit and rising childcare costs, mortgage, and combined student loan debts caused a lot of financial burden.
While reflecting on his life, his poor financial and business decisions leading up to that point in time, Geoffrey started thinking about what he truly wanted to do with his life. He had acquired tons of valuable skills and knowledge in the technology and marketing fields, but by then only had one paying client after leaving Morse Code IT. So he started using Tony Robbin's RPM system to gain clarity on who he is and what he has to offer the world. It was in that moment that he realized the one thing Geoffrey loves most - that he would love to do every single day for the rest of his life - would be "Bouncing To Music".
He started to remember all of the incredible byproducts that he had gained by bouncing all the time to music. He made a list of the benefits: 6pack abs, high endurance, consistently high energy, uncanny musical abilities to learn how to play any instrument he picks up by ear without any lessons, the ability to dance naturally and move with any kind of music, the ability to easily write catchy & compelling songs, ability to harmonize with almost any other sound, the ability to listen very intently, great flexibility, and the ability to instantly feel better and improve the way he feels!
Then he asked the question, "How could I teach others about the benefits and pure fun of Bounce-Sing?" And that's when the idea for the Bounce Sing Musical Sensory Chair was born! He continues working hard to develop the Bounce Sing Method and plans to publish a book about the exercise and the mountains of scientific evidence that he has discovered - strongly supports this activity because of the way both music & exercise impact the brain, body, and human emotion.
So the Bounce Sing Method is a mission to help people overcome stress, anxiety, depression, struggles with weight management, while sparking new levels of creativity. It is also intended to help our society offset the highly detrimental effects of prolonged sitting, that threatens our current generation as a result of the habits we've developed as a society to communicate with each other thru modern technology.
